There isn't a limit to the number of databases that SQL Backup can back up per instance, since each database is backed up sequentially.

SQL Backup should have generated a log file if it crashed. Could you please send me this file? This file is named SQBCoreService_<instance name>_bugreport.txt, and is located in 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Red Gate\SQL Backup\Log\' on Windows 2003 and older, and 'C:\ProgramData\Red Gate\SQL Backup\Log\' on Windows Vista and newer.

- output from sp_who2 if the backup is still in a hanging state

- the SQL Backup backup command that you were using

- any errors recorded in the Windows Event log related to the SQLVDI source during the time of the backup

- any errors recorded in the SQL Server error log during the time of the backup

You could put the list of databases to restore in a table, and use a cursor to iterate through that table to form the script.

Is it possible to "delete prior to start of copy" for copy backup to network ?

We have a large database backup which is little over 1/3rd the size of disk which means we can only save 1 copy of backup to disk instead of 2. The copy task first copies the backup and then deletes the old backup, so it needs the space for 2 backups.

The backup task has the option to "Delete prior to start of backup" and was wonder if we can edit update the T-SQL for the job to do the same for copy task ?

Hi all,

Did any one used the Reporting for multiple DB? I have follow the help guide and created the "SQLBackupReportingDatabase" on one of my SQL server. I'm able to upload the backup and restore log to this DB.

I would like to know, is there any sql script, store_proc or task I can use to automatic upload the backup and restore log to this DB, so that I don't need to manually run this function?

Since the multiple db report format did not fit my requirement, so I would like to create my own report by directly read this DB. The key point is this DB data should always be up-to-date, so the report will be accurate. Anyone have this kind of working?

I don't know if this 'restriction' is mentioned anywhere in the documentation. If you need a version of SQL Backup to only restore databases, you could contact the Red Gate sales department for options.

With regards to the conversion applications, it's under 'Tools & Utilities > SQL Backup File Converter'.

Hello,
I am receiving the following errors in the sql log.

12/14/2012 2:47:58 AM: Thread 0 error:
Process terminated unexpectedly. Error code: -2139684860 (An abort request is preventing anything except termination actions.)

Although the error seems to indicate an issue, the log restore itself seems to have worked fine. When I check the data in the database, it is up to date.

I'm new to SQL Backup 7 and configuring my environment for the first time. I launch the application and use the menu to add the local Sql Server database. Immediately after I click the button, I get the following error:

SQLite cannot rollback - no transaction is active

Once this happens, the application will not launch until I remove servers.dat.

SQL Backup 7 was installed by a previous employee who is no longer available to help.

I Googled and searched the forum and could not find any info that seems relevant.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

I use SQL Backup 6.5, and need to set up one to many log shipping (to on site spare SQL server, to off site, to development...)

I have it set up now to the on site warm standby.

Any tips or pointers on doing one to many?

What you are seeking cannot be achieved using the Log Shipping Wizard. However you can modify your existing setup to perform a one to many. The instructions below if you wish to log ship to two destination servers is as follows:

1. Configure a network share for the second target server to use.

2. Take a full backup of the source database.

3. Restore the full backup created in step 2, to the second target database using the WITH NORECOVERY argument.

4. On the source server, Open SSMS or Enterprise Manager ->SQL Server Agent ->Jobs ->Locate the existing Transaction Log Backup job.

5. Right Click the job and select Properties.

6. Select Steps and click on the Edit button. The syntax of the Transaction Log Backup job may look similar to the following:

On the General Tab give the job a name and if required enter information into the Description field. On the schedules tab, set a new schedule on how often the restore job needs to run. On the Steps Tab modify the restore script below as required:
